What we collect, and what we don’t
The short version
- You can read all of Trikon without an account, and without telling us anything.
- We use Google Analytics to count readers, so we know whether Trikon is growing. It sets cookies and sends usage data (pages viewed, device type, coarse location) to Google. We use no advertising features. You can block it with any ad or tracker blocker, or Google’s opt-out.
- If you send us a data-centre report, your city and description are public. Your contact details are never published.
- You can ask us to correct or delete anything about you. Write to the address at the bottom.
Who we are
Trikon is a news-comparison service operated by Jovian Axis Labs. It shows how the Left, Centre and Right of the Indian press covered the same story. For anything on this page, contact our Grievance Officer, Reeha Singh (details at the end).
What we collect
| What | When | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Usage data via Google Analytics — pages viewed, device and browser type, coarse location | Just reading Trikon | To count readers and see which sections are read | 14 months (Google Analytics retention) |
| City, state, description, issue type, and optionally the site/operator name | You submit a data-centre report | To publish the report so communities can be heard | Until you ask us to remove it |
| Your name or initials (optional) | You choose to add it to a report | Shown publicly with your report, because you chose to | Until you ask us to remove it |
| Contact — email or phone (optional) | You choose to add it to a report | So we can follow up. Never shown publicly | 24 months, then deleted |
| A one-way hash of your IP | You submit a report | Spam and abuse control only. We cannot recover the IP from it | 24 months, then deleted |
| Email address | You subscribe to the daily Brief | To send you the Brief | Until you unsubscribe |
| An outlet vote | You rate an outlet’s leaning | Counted anonymously in a total. Not linked to you | Indefinitely, as an anonymous count |
| Your settings (language, list/reel view) | You change them | Stored in your own browser. Never sent to us | Until you clear your browser |
Names that appear in the news
Trikon indexes public figures, organisations and places named in published news headlines, so readers can see which outlets are covering whom. We read headlines only, never full articles, and we do not build profiles of private individuals.
If you are named on Trikon and something is wrong — or you want it removed — write to our Grievance Officer. We will correct or remove it within 15 days.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 you can ask us to: tell you what we hold about you; correct or complete it; delete it; or withdraw a consent you gave us. Ask through the contact below. There is no charge, and we will respond within 15 days.
Who else sees anything
We do not sell or share your personal data. Two ordinary technical exceptions:
- Our hosting provider (Railway) processes requests to run the site.
- Google processes analytics data on our behalf (Google Analytics), as described above.
- The map on our data-centre page loads mapping software and map tiles from third parties (unpkg and CARTO), which means those services receive your IP address, as they would for any website using a map. If you do not open that page, this does not apply.
News outlet images are loaded from the publishers’ own servers, so those publishers may see that an image was requested.
Cookies
We set no cookies for advertising, analytics or tracking. Your preferences are stored in your own browser (local storage) and are never transmitted to us.
Children
Trikon is a general news service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in our public change log on the home page.
